Services offered by the Practice
Childhood Immunisation Clinic – Every Monday, 10-12.30pm, with our Practice Nurse, Jill. Babies and children are invited to attend to receive their vaccinations. It is vitally important that each child is fully immunised to offer protection.
6-8 week Baby Checks – Babies are normally booked in to see a GP for a full baby check, on the day of their first immunisation, at 8 weeks. Please ensure this is booked in, when you receive your first Immunisation appointment letter.
Antenatal Clinic – This clinic is run by Claire Clarke, our midwife. The clinic takes place on Fridays (every first and third of each month) at the Earl Shilton Family Hub on Alexandra Avenue. If you are newly pregnant, and wish to register with a midwife, please click here:
NHS Health Checks – If you’re aged 40 to 74 and do not have a pre-existing health condition, you will be invited for an NHS Health Check. This check-up looks at your overall health by carrying out a blood test, and it can tell you if you are at higher risk of getting certain problems such as cardio-vascular disease, diabetes etc. You will be told how to reduce your risk of these conditions. They are carried out by our Nurse or health care assistant, and you can request a test every 5 years.
Chronic disease/Health clinics – Our Practice Nurse sees patients for management/review of conditions such as Diabetes, COPD, Heart disease, Asthma, Hypertension. You will be invited for a review if you suffer from a long-term condition.
Contraception / Cervical Smears – We offer a full contraceptive service including coil fitting and removal, Nexplanon fitting and removal (currently unavailable until further notice), and contraception reviews, with our Practice Nurse. All women are invited to have a cervical smear every three years between the ages of 25 and 49, after that every five years until age 64. Please book in, when you have received an invitation.
Minor Surgery – Dr Maini offers steroid joint injections in shoulders and knees for joint pain (not responding to medication only). You will need to make an appointment to see Dr Maini first, for an assessment for suitability.
Men’s Health – Please make an appointment to discuss any worries you have regarding your general health, smoking cessation or perhaps prostate, or testicular problems or sexual difficulties.
Travel Health – Our Practice Nurse, Jill provides travel health advice if you are travelling abroad. Please complete a travel form, and drop it off at the Surgery for the Nurse to assess if any vaccinations are required. This should be undertaken 6-8 weeks before travel, in order to provide enough time for vaccines to take effect before your holiday.
Seasonal Vaccinations – The Practice takes part in all Seasonal vaccination programmes, such a Influenza, Pneumonia, and Covid-19 Vaccinations. All eligible patients are contacted to make an appointment to book in.
Mental Health Support – Clare Chenelar is an experienced Mental Health Practitioner. She holds regular counselling sessions to help with common mental health problems, on Tuesday afternoons. Please see Dr Maini, Dr Caratela or Dr Nidhi Arora-Sethi to arrange referral.
Health care assistant – The health care assistant holds clinics daily. See her for blood tests, ECGs, NHS Health Checks, Ear syringing, simple dressings, B12 injections, seasonal vaccinations, INR testing,
Other Practice Nursing – As well as some of the above clinics, Jill also sees patients for wound care, minor injuries, pre pregnancy counselling, help with stopping smoking, and general health advice and family planning.
